Series 3: Leadership Documentary Interviews, 1989 July-1994

This series contains 20 interview transcripts and one box of records pertaining to the production of a documentary film entitled, James A. Baker, III- A Statesman's Story. The film's purpose was to document the role of public service and statesmanship through the example of James A. Baker III's career and serve as a marketing film for Baker's 1996 presidential bid. In addition, there were discussions between Andrew Ling and PBS to use the film as a pilot for a television series on public service leadership. Production records include correspondence, budget spreadsheets, scripts, and photocopied articles and essays.

The transcripts in this series are arranged alphabetically by interviewee's last name. The production records are arranged in their original order as received from the donor.

The James A. Baker III Oral History Project is a joint project run by the Seeley G. Mudd Library at Princeton University and the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at Rice University. The project seeks to document the career of James A. Baker III, who was a central figure in the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George Bush in the 1980s and early 1990s and led presidential campaigns for Presidents Gerald Ford, Reagan and Bush over the course of five consecutive presidential elections from 1976 to 1992.

The colletion consists of transcripts and audio files of interviews with individuals who knew and worked closely with James A. Baker III during his career in politics and public service.
